ABOUT US
Cherish Narok’s Children is a 501c3 non-profit set up to help a children’s home in Kenya’s Narok County, where the famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve is located. These 60 plus children are orphans or have family unable to care for them. We have teamed up with Amani Mara, an Ecolodge in the Mara, in our efforts to enrich the children’s lives by supporting and encouraging their education. Kenyan secondary public school is not free – it is, in fact rather costly. This help includes paying tuitions, hiring tutors to work with the children who struggle in school and purchasing computers, uniforms and other supplies. Without our help and that of the home where they live, the children could face life as cattle herders, early marriage, FGM or life on the streets, All donations go directly to the children. We do not pay administrative or promotional expenses from these donations. Those costs are underwritten. Thank you for your help and support. These children depend upon us.

High school made possible
As a retired teacher, who taught for 37 years in CA, I always valued education. I always saw my students as young adults who could reach any goal they dreamt of. The future was theirs for the grabbing. Then I met the children at AIC Siyiapei Children’s Home in Narok, Kenya, in 2019. …

Pen Pals
August 2020 Twenty Kenyan children and twenty American children became pen pal friends through letters. It’s an amazing experience as the children come from very different backgrounds, often speak and write a different language and yet work to find common ground and interests. Hoping some of these friendships will last a long time. Wonder if…

A nearby “Villager”
The success of this endeavor has really been made possible by one family. They live part-time close by in Narok. The remaining time they operate an amazing eco-lodge, Amani Mara – located in the Masai Mara. Its three hours away from the Children’s Home. It was Shelina’s suggestion that started all of this. She urged…
